Our story

It was back in 2013 that I opened my first wine shop on Kings Rd, St Leonards-on-Sea. It was an ambitious venture, as the town had not seen anything like that before. I started with thirty everyday wines that I had been drinking for years and wanted to ‘spread the word’. By the following year I stocked 250 wines, all from small hand-crafted producers. My background was in fashion photography but back in the 90’s I fell in love with the wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy. Over the next two decades I honed my palate and knowledge base through tastings, conversation and lots of note taking. I never had any formal wine tuition.

Time passed, and the town has grown in different directions with a nice balance of old and new inhabitants…enter The Wineroom! The opportunity arose to take on a very cool space in the existing and beautiful homeware store SHOP, which I did not hesitate to take. There is a lovely synergy between the two spaces. The Wineroom offers wines from everyday drinking, under a tenner from all over the globe, to fine wines from Burgundy, Bordeaux and Champagne. There are also a few ‘special parcels’ of aged, rare bottles that come and go…very quickly!
